Paddling Emory Creek (Corsica River Watershed)
Paddling Emory Creek (Corsica River Watershed)

The Corsica River and the streams that feed it are part of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources water trail system. At the Centreville wharf, one can launch a kayak or canoe to explore up to 8 miles of trails in Mill stream, Yellow Bank stream, or Alder Branch. For maps and detailed information about Centreville’s Historic Waterways, visit Corsica River Water Trails.

By some estimates, the Bay from which the Corsica eventually flows, is over 300 million years old. When paddling its streams, one can have a connection with that past. And the town of Centreville itself will celebrate its 250-year anniversary in 2026. Exploring its waterways makes that connection too. For more history and details, see Paddling the Historic Corsica River.
