Centreville Wastewater Treatment Plant Informational Meeting

posted in: Blog, Home, News | 0

Centreville’s wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) is nearing the end of its useful life and plans are underway to replace it. Currently in the design phase, the new plant is expected to almost double current capacity from 564,000 to 1 million gallons per day. Several large scale developments in their planning stages cannot proceed without some additional capacity. For example, the Providence Farms parcel of 279 acres across from the high school, which the town has annexed but are still under county governance, could have as many as 910 units according to the developer.

Maryland’s Department of the Environment (MDE) requires all WWTPs to be permitted. The current plant is up for a permit renewal and MDE has asked that the town include information on plans for the new plant. As required, MDE has scheduled an information session based on requests from CRC and others. This is the your chance to learn what’s going on while there is still time to make changes.

The virtual session with MDE will be held Wednesday September 16 5:30pm. You must register in advance.
