Free Soil Testing Available

One of the most important things we can do as landowners is to ensure that the amendments we put on our lawns and gardens are sufficient but not excessive to plant needs. One way to determine those needs is through soil testing. The University of Maryland Sea Grant Extension and Master Gardener Programs are offering residents in the Corsica River watershed free soil testing through May 26, 2023 to the first 50 Corsica River watershed residents that apply. To qualify for this program, landowners must own at least a quarter of an acre, reside in the Corsica River Watershed, and be willing to participate in a Master Gardener Bay-Wise consultation. It must be at least three years since their last soil test.

To take advantage of this offer, visit the University of Maryland Extension Office in Queen Anne’s County at 505 Railroad Ave in Centreville, MD or contact Rachel Rhodes at 410-758-0166 or rjrhodes@umd.edu.
